Wholesale optical frames manufacturers

For high-end markets, prioritize Handmade Acetate (Cellulose Acetate) for its deep gloss and hypoallergenic properties, or Titanium (Pure or Beta) for its extreme lightness and corrosion resistance. For budget-conscious or sports segments, TR90 (Thermoplastic Polyamide) is ideal due to its flexibility and impact resistance. Ensure metal frames use Monel or Stainless Steel with nickel-free plating to prevent skin irritation.

Optical frames are classified as medical devices in many regions. You must ensure suppliers provide CE Marking for the European Union (meeting EN ISO 12870 standards) and FDA Registration for the United States. Additionally, verify that materials comply with REACH (EU) or Proposition 65 (California) regarding lead and cadmium content in paints and plastics.

Focus on the hinge construction; look for 3-barrel, 5-barrel, or 7-barrel hinges, or high-quality OBE/Comotec spring hinges for longevity. Perform a bridge deformation test to check if the frame returns to its original shape and inspect the electroplating or spray painting for uniformity, ensuring there are no bubbles or peeling that could indicate poor surface treatment.

A top-tier supplier should provide laser-engraved logo services on the inner temples, custom lens printing (demo lenses), and the ability to adjust bridge widths (e.g., Asian Fit vs. Global Fit). They should also support CAD drawing development for unique designs and offer a variety of packaging options like branded hard cases and microfiber cloths.

Implement a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) using AQL 2.5/4.0 standards. Specifically, instruct inspectors to check for frame alignment (symmetry), lens tightness, and sharp edges. Using a secure payment method like Escrow or Trade Messenger services on Made-in-China.com ensures funds are only released after the quality is verified.

Eyewear MOQs are often high (e.g., 300-500 pcs per style) due to production line setups. Negotiate by consolidating your order across fewer shapes but more colors, or ask for 'Ready-to-Ship' (RTS) stock if you need lower volumes. For bulk orders, aim for a 10-15% discount by committing to a yearly volume rather than a single one-off purchase.

Optical frames are prone to pressure damage. Insist on individual polybags and bubble wrap for each frame, packed into divided inner boxes (usually 10-20 units per box), and finally into double-walled corrugated master cartons. For air freight, ensure the cartons are palletized and shrink-wrapped to prevent moisture ingress and crushing.

Stay informed about Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) which may apply to specific materials from certain regions. Always verify the HS Code (typically 9003.11 or 9003.19) with your customs broker to calculate accurate import duties and ensure all Certificate of Origin documents are correctly prepared to leverage any Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
