Road spikes manufacturers

When selecting road spikes, you must prioritize material durability and load-bearing capacity. Look for spikes made from A3 carbon steel or high-strength manganese steel with a thickness of at least 10mm to 12mm. The system should have a static load capacity of ≥50 tons to ensure it can withstand heavy-duty trucks without deforming. Additionally, verify the spike height (usually 100mm-150mm) and the activation speed, which should ideally be under 2 seconds for automated hydraulic systems.

It is critical to verify that the supplier adheres to ISO 9001 for manufacturing quality management. For the product itself, look for CE marking (for electrical components in automatic versions) and IP67 or IP68 waterproof ratings to ensure the drive unit functions in extreme weather. Request crash test reports or simulation data that align with standards like ASTM F2656 or PAS 68 if the spikes are intended for anti-terrorism or high-security checkpoints.

Manual/Portable spikes are best for temporary police checkpoints due to their lightweight and foldable design. Mechanical (One-way) spikes are cost-effective for controlling traffic flow in parking lots, as they automatically deflate tires of vehicles entering from the wrong direction without power. Hydraulic or Electromechanical spikes are the premium choice for government buildings or banks, offering remote control integration, high frequency of use, and emergency override capabilities.

To prevent system failure, ensure the supplier provides a drainage design to prevent water accumulation in the foundation pit. Regular maintenance should include clearing debris from the spike slots, lubricating the pivot shafts, and checking the hydraulic oil levels every 6 months. Choosing a supplier that offers modular spike replacements is highly recommended, as it allows for the repair of individual damaged teeth without replacing the entire unit.

The main risks include high shipping costs due to weight and customs clearance delays. Because these are heavy steel items, sea freight is the only economical option. Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin and accurate HS Codes (typically 7326.90 or 8608.00) to avoid misclassification. Furthermore, ensure the wooden crate packaging meets ISPM 15 fumigation standards to prevent entry rejection at the destination port.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site inspections by third-party agencies like SGS or Intertek. Check their Business Type—manufacturers are preferable over trading companies for technical equipment to ensure direct technical support and spare parts availability. Review their export history to your specific region to ensure they are familiar with your local voltage requirements (e.g., 110V vs 220V) for automated systems.

Focus on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for extra wear-and-tear parts (like spare spikes or limit switches) to be included in the initial price. For large projects, request a staggered payment schedule (e.g., 30% deposit, 60% after passing a pre-shipment video inspection, and 10% after arrival/testing). Mentioning long-term project pipelines can often secure a 10-15% volume discount.

Request detailed installation manuals and wiring diagrams in English (or your local language) before the goods ship. Since these items are difficult to return, ask the supplier to conduct a 100-cycle fatigue test and send a video recording of the specific unit you purchased. For shipping, use FOB (Free On Board) terms if you have a reliable forwarder, or CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) if you want the supplier to handle the risk until the goods reach your port.
