Pencil eraser manufacturers

Erasers are primarily categorized into three types: PVC (Vinyl), TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber), and Natural Rubber. PVC erasers are the most popular for professional drafting and office use due to their non-abrasive nature and ability to lift graphite without damaging paper. TPR erasers are the eco-friendly standard, often used for school supplies as they are PVC-free and non-toxic. Natural rubber erasers are more abrasive and are suitable for heavy-duty erasing or removing ink-pencil marks.

Since erasers are frequently classified as stationery or toys, they must comply with strict chemical safety standards. For the US market, ensure products meet ASTM D-4236 (labeling of hazardous art materials) and CPSIA (lead and phthalate limits). For the EU market, compliance with EN71 (Parts 1, 2, and 3) is mandatory to ensure the product is free from heavy metals and harmful plasticizers. Always request a Reach Compliance Certificate from your supplier.

Performance is measured by the erasing rate and debris generation. A high-quality eraser should have an erasing rate of ≥85% with minimal pressure. B2B buyers should request samples to test 'dust-free' properties, where the eraser crumbs clump together rather than scattering, making it ideal for clean office environments. Additionally, check for paper integrity; the eraser should not cause thinning or tearing of 80gsm standard copy paper.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com typically offer OEM/ODM services including silk-screen printing, UV full-color printing, and heat transfer printing for logos. For unique branding, you can request 3D shaped erasers (extruded) or scented versions. Ensure the supplier uses food-grade fragrances if opting for scented products to maintain safety compliance.

The primary risk is chemical non-compliance, particularly regarding phthalates in PVC erasers, which can lead to customs seizures. Another risk is aging/brittleness; low-quality rubber erasers can harden during long-sea transit if not stored correctly. To mitigate this, specify fresh production batches and ensure the use of moisture-proof inner packaging.

Erasers are low-margin, high-volume goods. To get the best price, aim for Full Container Load (FCL) orders to reduce the per-unit shipping cost. If you are a startup, look for suppliers on Made-in-China.com that offer flexible MOQs (e.g., 5,000 - 10,000 units) for stock colors, but be prepared for higher MOQs (30,000+) for custom pantone colors or unique molds.

Use Trade Resources and secure payment terms like L/C (Letter of Credit) or T/T with a 30% deposit and 70% against the Bill of Lading. For shipping, erasers are heavy and dense; Sea Freight is the most economical method. Ensure the supplier provides a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) even for non-liquid items, as some carriers require it to verify the chemical stability of synthetic rubbers during transit.
