Mortise handle lock set manufacturers

When sourcing mortise locks, the most critical technical factor is the backset and center-to-center (CTC) distance, as these must match the door preparation. Material choice is equally vital; Grade 304 Stainless Steel or Solid Brass are preferred for high-traffic or coastal areas due to their superior corrosion resistance. For the internal mechanism, ensure the latch bolt and deadbolt are made of durable alloys to withstand at least 200,000 to 500,000 cycles (Grade 1 or Grade 2 standards).

To ensure safety and market entry, buyers should prioritize products that meet EN 12209 (European standard for mechanically operated locks) or ANSI/BHMA A156.13 (American National Standard for Mortise Locks). For fire-rated doors, the lock set must have a UL 10C (3-hour fire rating) or CE marking indicating it has passed rigorous fire and smoke protection tests.

The cylinder is the heart of the lock's security. Look for anti-drill, anti-pick, and anti-bump features. High-security sets often utilize computerized dimple keys or restricted keyways to prevent unauthorized duplication. Verify if the supplier offers Master Key Systems (MKS), which is a crucial requirement for commercial projects like hotels or office buildings.

For long-lasting aesthetics, PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating is the gold standard, offering extreme resistance to scratches and tarnishing. Other common finishes include Electroplating (Satin Nickel, Chrome, or Antique Bronze). Ensure the supplier provides a Salt Spray Test report (typically 48 to 96 hours) to guarantee the finish won't peel or oxidize in humid environments.

Always request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) by a third-party agency like SGS or Intertek. Focus on dimensional accuracy (using calipers to check the mortise body) and functional testing of the spring tension. For large orders, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to ensure payment is only released after the goods pass quality verification.

Negotiate based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Ask for spare parts (1-2% extra springs and screws) to be included at no cost. If you have high volume, negotiate for customized branding (laser-etched logos) on the handle or faceplate, which adds significant retail value with minimal production cost.

Mortise lock sets are dense and heavy; therefore, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical method. Ensure the supplier uses reinforced 5-layer corrugated boxes and individual inner packaging to prevent metal-on-metal scratching during transit. For urgent samples, Air Express is viable, but check if the magnetic components in smart versions of mortise locks require a Magnetic Inspection Report for air clearance.

Strictly adhere to standardized Incoterms (like FOB or CIF) to clearly define risk transfer. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts; instead, use audited supplier accounts verified by professional platforms like Made-in-China.com. Always verify the supplier's Business License and Export Qualification to ensure they are a legitimate manufacturer and not a fly-by-night middleman.
