Modal yarn manufacturers

When evaluating Modal yarn, you must focus on the yarn count (e.g., 30s, 40s, 60s), which determines the fineness and application of the fabric. Ensure the fiber source is authentic Lenzing Modal if high-end branding is required, as it guarantees superior softness, breathability, and color brilliance. Additionally, check the tenacity (breaking strength) and elongation rates to ensure the yarn can withstand high-speed knitting or weaving processes without frequent breakage.

To ensure market access and consumer safety, prioritize suppliers with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, which confirms the yarn is free from harmful substances. For buyers focusing on sustainability, FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC certifications are vital to prove the wood pulp originates from sustainably managed forests. If the yarn is a blend, verify the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) if recycled components are included.

Modal is a high-wet-modulus (HWM) regenerated cellulose fiber, meaning it is 50% more hygroscopic (water-absorbent) than cotton and maintains better dimensional stability than standard viscose. It is highly resistant to shrinkage and pilling, making it ideal for intimate apparel and luxury home textiles. In production, Modal's smooth fiber surface results in a silk-like luster and exceptional dye uptake, reducing the amount of dyestuff needed compared to traditional fibers.

100% Modal is typically used for high-end lingerie and loungewear due to its extreme softness. Modal-Cotton blends (typically 50/50) are preferred for casual wear as they combine the durability of cotton with the drape of Modal. For sportswear, Modal-Spandex blends provide the necessary elasticity and moisture-wicking properties required for active use.

Always request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and a Lenzing Transaction Certificate if purchasing branded Modal. Before placing a bulk order, conduct a burn test or microscopic analysis on a sample; genuine Modal burns similarly to paper and leaves a fine gray ash. Utilizing Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services can also provide a layer of protection by ensuring payment is only released upon verification of shipping documents.

Negotiate based on volume-based pricing tiers; typically, orders exceeding 5 tons can command a 5-8% discount. Discuss lead time guarantees, especially during peak textile seasons (Q3 and Q4), and request fixed pricing for a 6-month period to hedge against fluctuations in the global wood pulp market. Ensure the Incoterms (e.g., FOB or CIF) are clearly defined to avoid hidden logistics costs.

Modal yarn is highly sensitive to moisture. Ensure the supplier uses neutral plastic inner packaging and strong corrugated export cartons or woven bags with moisture-proof liners. For sea freight, request desiccant silica gel packs inside the container to prevent 'container rain' which can lead to mildew, rendering the yarn unusable for high-end garment production.

Stay informed about Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) that some countries impose on regenerated cellulose fibers from specific regions. Check the Rules of Origin under relevant Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to see if you can benefit from reduced import tariffs. Always ensure the HS Code (typically 55101100 for Modal yarn) is correctly declared on the Commercial Invoice to avoid customs delays and fines.
