Demister ball manufacturers

Selecting the right material is critical for longevity. For general chemical resistance, Stainless Steel 304 or 316L is standard. However, for highly corrosive environments involving acids or high temperatures, you should specify Monel, Inconel, or Titanium. If weight and cost are priorities for lower-temperature applications, PP (Polypropylene), PTFE, or PVDF are excellent non-metallic alternatives that offer superior chemical inertness.

The efficiency of a demister ball depends on its surface area and void fraction. A smaller wire diameter increases the surface area for droplet impingement but may increase pressure drop. You should look for a void fraction of 97% to 99% to ensure maximum mist removal efficiency (up to 99.9%) while maintaining minimal pressure resistance within the gas stream.

Ensure the supplier adheres to ISO 9001:2015 for quality management. For pressure vessel integration, materials should meet ASTM or ASME standards. If the demister balls are used in oil and gas, verify compliance with NACE MR0175 for sour gas environments to prevent stress corrosion cracking.

Request a Positive Material Identification (PMI) report to confirm alloy composition. The mesh should be interlocked or knitted uniformly without loose strands. For ball-shaped demisters, ensure the structural integrity of the outer cage or binding wire to prevent deformation under high-velocity gas flow.

Material substitution is a common risk. Always require a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) and consider hiring a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform random PMI testing before the balance payment is made. Sourcing through reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com allows you to select 'Audited Suppliers' who have undergone verified on-site inspections.

Pricing for metal demister balls is heavily tied to global raw material indices (e.g., LME for Nickel/Chrome). Negotiate a formula-based pricing for long-term contracts or lock in rates during market lows. For bulk orders, aim for a 10-20% discount by increasing the volume to fill a full container (FCL), which also reduces the risk of deformation during transit compared to LCL.

Demister balls are 'light cargo' (high volume, low weight), meaning you will likely be charged based on volumetric weight. To optimize costs, ask the supplier to use vacuum packaging or compression techniques if the material allows, or use reinforced wooden crates to prevent the mesh from being crushed by heavier items in the shipping container.

Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is only released after the shipping documents are verified. Always use Incoterms 2020 (such as FOB or CIF) clearly in the contract to define exactly where the risk transfers from the seller to the buyer.
