Cordyceps manufacturers

Buyers must distinguish between Cordyceps Sinensis (Wild), which is extremely expensive and regulated as a protected species, and Cordyceps Militaris (Cultivated), which is the industry standard for supplements and functional foods. Cordyceps Militaris is preferred for mass production due to its higher Cordycepin content, lower cost, and sustainable cultivation in controlled environments using substrate like rice or silkworm pupae.

To ensure potency, buyers should request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) verifying levels of Cordycepin (ideally >0.5% for extracts), Adenosine, and Polysaccharides. High-quality extracts are often standardized to 30% or 40% Polysaccharides. Ensure the supplier uses HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) for testing to guarantee accuracy.

For the US market, suppliers must be FDA Registered and comply with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices). For the EU, products must meet Novel Food Regulations and PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) limits. Globally, ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications are essential to ensure food safety and hygiene during the drying and extraction processes.

Prioritize products labeled as '100% Fruiting Body' rather than 'Cordyceps Mycelium' or 'Myceliated Grain.' Mycelium grown on grain often contains high levels of starch (fillers) and lower concentrations of secondary metabolites. Request an iodine test result; a dark purple reaction indicates high starch content, signaling a lower-quality, grain-heavy product.

Agricultural products like Cordyceps are prone to absorbing Lead, Arsenic, and Mercury from the growth medium. You must mandate Third-Party Testing (SGS or Eurofins) for every batch. Ensure the supplier provides a Pesticide Residue Free report, especially if you are targeting the organic health market.

Focus on transparency of the extraction ratio (e.g., 10:1 vs 20:1) rather than just the price per kilogram. Ask for tiered pricing based on active ingredient concentration. For long-term contracts, negotiate a 'Price Protection Clause' to hedge against seasonal fluctuations in raw material harvesting costs.

Cordyceps products are highly hygroscopic (moisture-absorbent). Ensure the supplier uses vacuum-sealed aluminum foil bags with desiccant packs inside double-walled corrugated export cartons. For bulk extracts, maintain a cool, dry environment (below 25°C) during shipping to prevent clumping and degradation of active compounds.

Utilize Secured Payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. Additionally, hire a Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) service to perform a 'Random Sampling' at the factory to verify that the bulk goods match the pre-approved gold samples.
