Bottle cap manufacturers

The choice of material depends heavily on the contents of the bottle. For beverages and food, PP (Polypropylene) and PE (Polyethylene) are standard due to their BPA-free properties and heat resistance. For pharmaceuticals, caps must often be made of medical-grade plastics or aluminum-plastic combinations that support sterilization processes. If you are sourcing for cosmetics, electroplated UV coatings or aluminum shells are preferred for a premium aesthetic and chemical resistance to essential oils.

Sealing is the most critical function. You must verify the liner type, such as PE foam, pressure-sensitive liners, or induction heat seals, which provide a hermetic seal and tamper-evident security. For carbonated drinks, ensure the cap has gas venting slots. Always request a vacuum leak test report from the supplier to confirm the cap maintains integrity under pressure changes during transport.

For the US market, ensure materials are FDA-compliant and meet CFR 21 standards. For the EU, REACH and RoHS certifications are mandatory, and for food contact, EU No. 10/2011 is required. If sourcing Child-Resistant Closures (CRC), they must pass ISO 8317 or 16 CFR 1700.20 testing to ensure they are difficult for children to open but functional for seniors.

To prevent production line jams, specify the thread type (e.g., 28/410, 38mm, PCO 1881) and dimensional tolerances within ±0.05mm. Ensure the torque requirements for application are clearly defined. Suppliers should provide technical drawings (CAD/PDF) to ensure compatibility with your existing preforms or glass bottles.

Utilize Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to protect your payment until the goods are verified. It is highly recommended to hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a During Production Check (DUPRO) and a Final Random Inspection (FRI). Focus on color consistency (Delta E < 1.0) and flash/burr checks which can interfere with capping machines.

Focus on tooling ownership and mold life. If you require a custom design, clarify that the injection mold belongs to you after a certain volume is reached. Negotiate based on raw material price indexes (like the price of PP resin) to ensure fair pricing during market fluctuations. For high-volume orders, aim for a 5-10% discount compared to standard MOQ pricing.

Bottle caps are lightweight but high-volume, making shipping cubage expensive. Request high-density seaworthy packaging using double-corrugated cartons and inner polybags to prevent dust contamination. To optimize costs, consider FCL (Full Container Load) shipping and ask the supplier to provide a loading plan that maximizes the use of container space.

When requesting custom logos or patented flip-top designs, ensure you have a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Verify the supplier's R&D capabilities by checking their patent portfolio on their Made-in-China.com company profile to ensure they are the original manufacturer and not a middleman infringing on existing designs.
