Stock lot fabric manufacturers

When sourcing stock lots, you must verify the GSM (Grams per Square Meter) to ensure the weight matches your needs, the composition (e.g., 100% Cotton, Poly-Cotton blends), and the usable width (excluding selvage). It is critical to request a detailed packing list that specifies the roll lengths and the ratio of 'A' grade vs. 'B' grade materials within the lot.

Stock lots are often overruns or cancelled orders, so consistency can vary. You should demand actual stock photos and videos rather than catalog images. Request a randomly selected sample from the current inventory. Ensure the supplier provides a defect rate guarantee; typically, reputable stock lot dealers maintain a defect rate below 3-5% for 'A' grade stocks.

Even for stock items, compliance is mandatory. Ensure the fabrics meet OEKO-TEX Standard 100 for chemical safety, especially if intended for apparel. For US markets, verify CPSIA compliance for lead and phthalates if used for children's products. Always ask for existing lab test reports (SGS or ITS) that were generated during the original production run.

Stock lots are highly versatile. Woven cottons are ideal for fast-fashion shirts and bedding; knitted jerseys are perfect for promotional T-shirts; and heavyweight canvas or polyester stocks are frequently used for bags, upholstery, or outdoor covers. Buyers often use these for high-volume, price-sensitive markets where cost-per-yard is the primary driver.

The biggest risk is 'bait and switch', where the delivered goods do not match the sample. Since stock lots move fast, the specific lot you viewed might be sold. Always use Trade Assurance or secure payment terms. Additionally, hidden defects like color shading or fabric holes can occur; therefore, hiring a third-party inspection service (like those available via Made-in-China.com) to perform a container loading check is highly recommended.

Negotiation should focus on 'Take-All' pricing. Suppliers are often willing to offer discounts of 20-40% if you clear their entire warehouse of a specific lot. If you cannot take the whole lot, negotiate based on volume tiers. Always clarify who bears the loading and local port charges, as these can be significant for heavy textile shipments.

Fabrics are heavy and bulky. To optimize costs, calculate the CBM (Cubic Meters) carefully to choose between 20GP or 40HQ containers. Ensure the supplier uses strong PVC wrapping to prevent moisture damage during sea transit. For shipping to specific regions, verify if your country has anti-dumping duties on specific textile origins to avoid unexpected customs costs.

Prioritize suppliers on Made-in-China.com who are Audited Suppliers. Check their business license scope to ensure they are authorized to export textiles. Look for a proven track record of exporting to your specific region, as they will be more familiar with the necessary Certificate of Origin and labeling requirements for your customs.
