Glass bell jars manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize High Borosilicate Glass (3.3) over soda-lime glass, as it offers superior thermal shock resistance and optical clarity. Ensure the glass is lead-free and BPA-free for food-related or high-end display use. For heavy-duty applications, verify the wall thickness (typically 3mm to 5mm) to ensure structural integrity and prevent easy breakage.

The base is as critical as the jar itself. If selecting wooden bases (e.g., pine, walnut, or bamboo), ensure they are kiln-dried to prevent warping or cracking during transit. For metal bases, look for electroplated finishes or powder coating to prevent oxidation. Always check for a groove design in the base to ensure the glass jar sits securely and provides a dust-proof seal.

For the US market, products must comply with FDA 21 CFR if used for food display, and California Proposition 65 regarding lead content. For the EU, LFGB or EC 1935/2004 certifications are required. If the bell jar includes electronic components (like LED fairy lights), ensure the unit has CE, RoHS, or UL certification to pass customs without delays.

Professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com usually offer laser-engraved logos on the base or silk-screen printing on the glass. You should also inquire about custom dimensions and specialty glass finishes, such as iridescent, frosted, or smoked glass, to differentiate your product in the retail market.

Request 5-layer corrugated outer cartons and individual EPE foam (Expanded Polyethylene) or molded pulp packaging for each unit. Avoid bubble wrap alone for bulk shipments. It is highly recommended to conduct a ISTA 1A Drop Test before the goods leave the factory and to negotiate 1-3% extra units or a breakage refund clause in the contract.

Focus on Total Landed Cost rather than just the unit price. Since glass is heavy and fragile, ask the supplier if they can nest different sizes (placing smaller jars inside larger ones) to optimize container utilization and reduce shipping costs per unit. For long-term partnerships, request a price lock agreement for 6-12 months to hedge against fluctuating raw material costs.

Look for the 'Audited Supplier' badge, which indicates the factory has been verified by third-party agencies like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Review their Audit Report to check their production capacity and quality control processes. Prioritize suppliers who offer Trade Assurance or similar secure payment methods to protect your capital until the goods are received.

Glassware is often classified under HS Code 7013 (Glassware for table, kitchen, toilet, office, indoor decoration). Be aware that some regions may impose anti-dumping duties on specific glass types. Always use FOB (Free On Board) terms if you have a reliable freight forwarder, as this gives you more control over the fragile cargo handling and insurance coverage.
